This piece is a depiction of what a theatre dressing room feels like. Because I wanted to show what it was like to feel unprepared and immature compared to the people around you, I used deeper warm colors on the girls around the girl in the middle. I gave her blue and pink to make her feel childish and out of place. I feel like I did a great composition with this piece but I could have made it cleaner and easier to read. I used pen and watercolor for this piece.

For the second piece related to my sustained investigation I decided to focus on the effect of the marketing of performances to aspiring artists. To represent the hope of young dreamers I painted two dancers, one advertised on the billboard and one dancing underneath. The painting is moonlit to make it seem more dreamy and is by a road out in almost the middle of nowhere. I used gouache paints for this piece and used some pictures of the road that I took and a picture of a ballerina someone let me use for references.

For this piece I used a photo of two of my friends and myself playing music together. I wanted to show the collaboration that comes with performing arts, and how a lot of times it really is fun. I used some light blues and purples for the background and I tried to make the colors very bright and playful because making music with friends is very playful. I made this piece digitally in Procreate.

In this piece I wanted to use a lot of symbolism related to criticism that artists receive for their art. To do this I used a girl biting into a tomato. Because tomatoes typically represent dislike in performing arts, I painted a girl taking a bite into a tomato. This was to show the experience of taking in criticism, and how it can often be uncomfortable or even make people uneasy. For this piece I used oil paints.

This piece shows me with some of my friends. I thought it was important to show the more lowkey side of theatre because there are always those rare moments in the middle of the crazy where you get free time to just spend with your friends. I used oil pastels to make this piece.

This piece is of me in my three different costumes from different shows that I have done in high school. I am spinning because spinning in a dress is just something fun that I end up doing whenever I wear a dress. I liked how I did the hair. I feel like I could have done a better background with less streaks. I used pen and marker for this piece.

In this piece I wanted to the creativity that goes into technical elements of theatre, such as set design. The stage is coming to life for the audience. I liked the way I did the waterfall and the difference between the set and the outside.

I wanted to show the quiet, peaceful feeling after a show or a rehearsal. The girl is walking to her car from rehearsal. I like the colors and I like that I tried something a bit different with the coloring. I would add more details to the building and redo the jacket on the girl. I made this digitally using Procreate.

I made this piece around the same time as Valentine's Day and I just thought that it would be a cute idea to draw the two people dancing with sheet music around them. For this piece I wanted to have only a couple colors and wanted ones that would stand out against each other. I also tried to match the two people together by pairing the hair color of one to the clothing color of the other. There are some parts of the piece where I can see pen lines of preportions that I messed up on. I like the movement and composition of this piece.
